Road Representatives
Your Road Representative is the person who knows your road. For most things, they are the quickest way to an answer.

How to reach yours
If you are new, your Representative should have called round with a welcome pack. If nobody has, that is worth telling us, because it means something has gone wrong rather than that you have been overlooked.
What they do
They look after the road. Working with the Infrastructure Sub-Committee, they have delegated responsibility for maintaining the private roads, drains and verges, and for setting and collecting the road charges.
They get professional advice on the condition of the roads in their group and on the repairs needed to keep them safe. Property owners are consulted before contracts are placed, so you should hear about significant work before it happens rather than after.
They welcome new residents. If you have just moved in, your Road Representative will call round with a welcome pack and explain how things work on your road.
They handle road name boards, signs and gates for their group.
They are your first contact for building work, verges, drains, road surface and planning questions on your road. They are not experts on these matters, so they will refer anything that needs it to the relevant Committee lead to follow up.
What they are not
Road Representatives do not get involved in disagreements between neighbours. It is worth saying plainly, because people sometimes assume otherwise.
If the problem is the road itself, that is squarely their job and they would much rather hear about it early. A hedge growing over the carriageway, a blocked gully, a sinking surface, a sign that has gone: tell them.
If the problem is the person next door, that is between the two of you. Your Road Representative is your neighbour too, they are unpaid, and putting them in the middle rarely helps either side. Most of these things settle with a conversation, and they settle faster without a third party carrying messages.
How they are appointed
Road Representatives are appointed by invitation of the Management Committee. Only Road Representatives or their deputies may attend Management Committee meetings.
