Conservation and briefing notes

From time to time an issue comes up that deserves more than a paragraph: what the problem is, what it means for the estate, and where the Association stands. Those go into a briefing note.

The series began in November 2018.

Briefing Note No. 1: drainage

Where the Association stands on estate drainage, with an update issued in June 2019. Much of the estate sits on heavy ground and the land drains are the reason the roads survive a wet winter. See also drainage.

Briefing Note No. 2: conservation areas

Written for the AGM, covering the difference between an Area of Special Character and a Conservation Area, and what each would mean for residents in practice.

This is a question that comes up regularly, usually when somebody is refused something they expected to be allowed, or allowed something a neighbour expected to be refused. The note explains why the estate sits where it does.

A fuller picture of the condition of the estate’s roads, drains and verges, and what it will take to keep them serviceable.
