Join MOSA

Membership and the estate charge are two different things, and confusing them is easy, so here they are side by side.

You can be a member without that changing what you pay. You can pay without being a member. They are not connected.

So what does membership actually get you?

A fair question, and the honest answer is a short list rather than a long one.

A vote at the AGM. On the fixed element of the charge, on the committee, and on anything else put to the meeting. Not on your road charge, which is settled by your road. See AGM and accounts.

A vote on who represents your road. Road Representatives are appointed by the members in their own road, and where there is more than one candidate there is a ballot of those members. If you are not a member, that ballot happens without you.

Standing for the committee, or being proposed for it, which requires membership.

Calling a meeting. Ten members can require a Special General Meeting. That is a real power and it belongs to members.

That is genuinely it. Nothing here is withheld from non-members: the site is public, the roads get maintained, the twittens get cut, and your Road Representative will help you either way.

Who can join

Under the constitution, any adult who lives here, owns a property here, or has a long connection with Middleton on Sea. Applications are considered by the Management Committee.

What it costs

Nothing. There is no joining fee and no annual subscription.

How to join

Ask your Road Representative, who can sign you up, or get in touch and we will send a form.

An online form will replace the paper one. Until it does, paper is not a second-class route and we will always accept it.
